In the beginning i wasn't a great fan of the book,"What Orwell Didn't Know" but as i began to read and understand what the authors had written about i began to feel a different way, and instead of dreading to read the book i began to see things from a different perspective. Thanks to the book i can now appreciate writing. I learned the similarities that come between writing and politics. One of the things i found most interesting is how politicians use writing as a way to indulge their voters into believing in everything they say, even if it may not always be true like when bush declared "Mission Complete". I also learned the importance of a metaphor. I now understand how important it is for the writer to create imagery. Without the use of a metaphor your reader is not able to imagine or create a scene of what he/she is reading about. I will take the knowledge from this book and make good use of it in the future.
